Early start for a trip to Yosemite. We went by bus and our guide for the trip was Peter Lee, Chinese American. He would speak one sentence in English and one in Mandarin. It took a bit of getting used to, but he was a pleasant guide and we had an easily managed crew. We saw lots of orchards along the way but also lots of brown and yellow grass where no irrigation is in use. Our trip was mostly uphill and took us along roads that wound round the hills, with slopes on one side and steep drops on another – and who hasn’t seen a car chase set on a similar road? As we got closer to Yosemite the view got more and more spectacular. Yosemite itself is beautiful but was slightly disappointing as there had been a long dry spell and the famous Bridal Veil Falls had be reduced to a trickle. This lack of water was repeated in other places too, but, overall, it’s worth a visit. The length we had to stay only gave us a glimpse, but I would highly recommend it. We stayed in Fresno that night.
