Circle Line

Dennis and Anna had to go to Washington so we were left to our own devices. We travelled into the city by train, emerging at Penn Station. We were taking a trip by bus to Niagara Falls the next day so we checked out the departure point for the bus then took a Circle Line tour of the city. We took the three hour trip which, in retrospect, was probably a bit long but you did get a good feel for the city and it’s many boroughs, not to mention the bridges. Our trip took us past Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, past Yankee Stadium, past three rivers, up to Harlem, round the tip of Manhattan Island and back to the start.  Afterwards we took the train back out to Massapequa Park but we had to get out in Freeport, apparently someone had died on the line, a suicide possibly. Anyway, all the passengers were stranded. We were told a bus would be coming to pick us up and bring us to our destinations. There was also a dilemma for us as we could not find out if the line would be still closed in the morning. No-one seemed to know. Eventually, as there was still no sign of a bus to appear so we got into a taxi with a couple of other people and made our way back to Hearn’s.
