Kusu Cruise

On our third day in Singapore we took a river cruise, from Clarke Quay down the Singapore River and out into the harbour(the world’s busiest, with a ship entereing, or leaving every three minutes or so our guide claimed). Our ultimate destination was Kusu(or turtle) Island. Our trip was onboard a restored Chinese junk. The harbour was indeed busy with ships, visible for miles, and also with dredgers, reclaiming land to turn into islands and expand  Singapore’s land area. It was quite windy on the trip and by the time we reached Kusu it was almost a gale.  A Muslim shrine on the island is a popular pilgrimage in October or November for people wishing for good luck.
